Looking for a good psychic or medium might sound like a simple task, but be forewarned, it is not as simple as it seems. Don’t get me wrong. There are many good and reputable psychics out there, but there are just as many frauds looking to make a fast dollar off you. Most people whether searching for a psychic, a medium, or both are looking for a reading during a time of emotional trauma. A lot of people seeking readings are even desperate for improvements in their life. There are many people out there that claim psychic abilities, and are only there to take advantage of people’s desperate feelings when caught in unpleasant situations. In order to choose the right psychic, or medium, we must also explore what things you should take caution in, or avoid when looking for a psychic.
Beware of psychics that will not give you a price for a reading up front. A good psychic will always let you know how much they charge for a reading before they give you the reading. Whether it be by the minute, half hour, or hour, you should know what you are paying. Avoid psychics that only give small amounts of information for one price, and then keep telling you that they will only continue if you continue to pay them more and more. This may sound silly, but I have a client that told me he went to a psychic who seemed to know things about him, but kept asking for more and more money to talk to him. He went in for a $20.00 reading. (At least, that was what the sign outside said.) By the time he walked out, he had paid $200.00, and he didn’t feel any closer to a resolution to his problem. If a psychic tells you that they charge a certain amount for a certain amount of time, then you are entitled to get your time before they ask for anything further from you. The price should not go up just because the psychic seems to be getting good information for you.
Also, be cautious when calling psychic phone lines. Many psychic phone lines employ legitimate psychics, however, not all of the psychics are legitimate. In fact, all you have to have is the gift of gab in order to be employed as a psychic on one of these lines. A friend of mine told me that she answered an add in the paper for a job once. The add asked for readers, and said that no experience was necessary. She actually thought she would be reading books, or information to people that could not read for themselves. When she got to what she thought was an interview, it turned out to be a big training session for a very well known psychic hotline. They taught her a little bit about Tarot cards, and ALOT about how to keep the caller on the line. Suddenly, she was a “Psychic Reader”. POOF! As long as she was willing to keep callers on the line at outlandish rates for as long as possible, she had a job. Another friend of mine made the mistake of actually calling one of these lines during a traumatic time in her life. She called the psychic line twice. One reader gave her very accurate information, but the other did not. Both readers managed to keep her on the line enough to run up some very large bills though. She had one bill for $500.00 and one for $1,000.00. I have also heard a story of a lady that went into bankruptcy after obsessively calling the same psychic on a hotline at a rate of $3.99 per minute until her bill reached over $100,000.00. Personally, I feel that the psychic acted irresponsibly in allowing someone to run up such a bill that they could not afford.
You should also watch for psychics that insist you must buy expensive candles, incense, statues, essential oils, crystals, ect. from them. Please understand that none of these things are really necessary. Candle rituals, spells, or anything else you might use these items for are honestly just a physical way to focus your prayer intentions, and energy.. A lot of psychics are connected with other Metaphysical shops. They get a cut of the money, if they send you to these shops. Just realize that you can pray for yourself, and have just as much luck as you would with these physical items. You should only buy these items, if you really want them for you. Do not buy them because a so- called psychic says you need them for a spell, to keep evil spirits away, etc. No physical item can change your life situations. You have to be willing to do that for you.
A client, and friend of mine told me that she went to a psychic who gave her a good, and inexpensive reading. However, she could never leave this psychic without spending over at least $100.00 on candles, every time she went to see her. This psychic had her convinced that she needed these items to change her life. Naturally, she eventually realized that these items were not bringing her all these great things, but emptying her wallet instead.
This next situation is classic. I think more so-called psychics attempt this one than any other, because I hear stories such as this story on such a regular basis. I have seen this type of fraud on television so many times but it truly does astound me that it actually happens. Beware of psychics that attempt to convince you that you have evil spirits, evil spells, curses, blockages, negative energy, etc. that can only be removed by them with their VERY EXPENSIVE so-called miracle cures. Realize that the only power to remove any negativity, wherever it originates from, lies within yourself, and within God. No miracle cure can fix your problems. A client of mine went to a psychic that told her she had an evil spirit hanging around her, and reaping havoc in her life. The psychic told her that all the misfortune in her life was because of that evil spirit. Of course, this psychic also tried to convince her that she would need $500.00 to do a candle ceremony that would eliminate the evil spirit from her life. My client got out of there fast, realizing that this psychic’s idea was not the answer, but she still wondered if she had made the right choice. The thought of an evil spirit scared her. Now this lady hesitated a little, but never went back. How many people do you think would get scared enough to go back to the psychic? Probably quite a few.
Another thing that is important to pay attention to is what type of reading a psychic is offering. There are a lot of misconceptions as to what a true psychic reading is. Please understand and realize that not all psychics are Tarot readers, and not all Tarot readers are true psychics. A true psychic does not have to use cards to read you, but will connect with, and read your energy vibrations, and a true medium will connect with energy vibrations of spirit.
Also, good psychics are not fortune tellers. A good psychic will stay close to the present to help you make decisions in current situations in your life. Understand that every decision that every person makes every day changes the energy behind the future. Therefore, for the most part, the future is not set in stone. Also, sometimes, the situation that we are wanting to know the future of may be a part of one of our big life lessons. We were all sent here to learn. You are not going to get an easy answer to something that you are here to learn. After all, if it was easy, what would we learn from it? That is why a good psychic rarely gets information about what will happen in your future.
A good psychic or medium should be confident in what they say. They should not hesitate to tell you what they are getting. Do not count on them telling you things just because it is what you want to hear. Expect honesty. A good psychic or medium should let you know when they are not clear on something. Not every psychic will know, or understand every thing about you. It is very possible to get 2 totally different readings about 2 totally different subjects if you go to 2 different psychics, because each psychic can pick up on something different, and because your energy vibrations are constantly changing as situations in your life are constantly changing. A good psychic or medium will ask you questions to help clarify the information coming into them, however, a good psychic should have information in the questions they are asking. Beware of so-called psychics that seem to ask you for too much information, without ever really giving any information to you.
Finally, understand that there is always the possibility that even a good psychic will not be able to connect with you. Every good psychic cannot connect with every person every time. If you feel as if a psychic is not connecting well with you, do not hesitate to let them know. You are paying for the reading, and you should walk away from it satisfied that you had a good reading, with a good connection. A good psychic will want you to be happy with your reading, and the information and advice that came through.
